European legislation prohibits truck drivers from spending the reduced or regular weekly rest periods in their vehicles. This conclusion was reached by Evgeni Tanchev, the Attorney General of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg.
As of 1 February 2017, the entire city centre of Antwerp and part of Linkeroever will became a Low Emission Zone (LEZ). The most polluting cars will no longer be welcome in the city as of this date. In 2020 and 2025, the LEZ requirements will become more stringent, to ensure that air in the city becomes even cleaner.

In 2016, the EU market showed consistent growth (+11.6%) and rose for the fourth year in a row, reaching 2,324,371 million commercial vehicles registered. Throughout the year, the five big markets performed better than in 2015. NEW high-tech speed cameras are being rolled out across Spain to keep a closer watch on the country’s drivers.
As well as detecting if a seatbelt is being worn, the cameras will also be able to check cars’ ITV details as well as checking road safety.
The first of the new ‘smart-surveillance’ cameras has been installed on the motorway between Torre del Mar and Velez-Malaga.

He said also that he would be legislating to allow for the naming and shaming of disqualified drivers by means of a publicly accessible database identifying them and detailing the sentence of disqualification.
There are almost 8,000 drivers on Ireland’s roads who have multiple concurrent disqualifications on their licences but continue to flout the law by driving.
That was the situation last August when research compiled by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) found that the licences of 7,651 drivers had multiple banning orders on them. The previous year, 1,767 disqualification notices were issued to drivers who were driving while banned.
